SHAR Blender Tools

About This Tool

SHAR Blender Tools is an upcoming all-in-one Blender extension for creating content for The Simpsons: Hit & Run.

It currently targets Blender 5.1, the latest version of Blender.

Features

  • Import and export Pure3D files directly. No intermediary file formats like Model XML or P3DXML needed!
  • Support for importing and exporting the following chunk types:
    • Textures
    • Shaders
    • Static Entities
    • Static Phys
    • Fences
    • Intersects
    • Locators (Event, Generic, CarStart and Coin)
    • Trigger Volumes
    • Intersections
    • Roads
    • Paths
    • Light Groups
  • Custom viewport rendering for fences, locators, trigger volumes, roads and paths.
    • Whether these things render and in what color(s) can be customized at any time from the SBT Preferences panel.
    • The defaults are meant to mimic the Debug Text hack from Lucas' Simpsons Hit & Run Mod Launcher.
  • Custom intuitive resize gizmos for collision volumes, trigger volumes and intersections.
  • An intuitive Shader Material editor that automatically generates material nodes based on your shader parameters to mimic how things will look ingame as closely as possible.

Support for additional chunk types, as well as support for cars and characters is planned as well.

Use Cases

SBT can currently be used for either of the following use cases:

  • Creating brand new, basic maps from scratch.
  • Importing portions of Radical's maps as a base for modifications applied dynamically via LuaP3DLib.
